"The Hippopotamus"

Based on a novel by Stephan Fry, it's sort of an off-beat English mystery. A down on his luck, boozing poet loses his job as a critic. He's hired by his niece to investigate a country estate where miracles occur. All kinds of crazy things occur while he stays there. The acting, especially that of Roger Allam, are excellent. It's full of English swearing and great British slang, and lots of sexual references. So if you're squeamish about those things, you might be offended. I thought it was a lot of fun.
4 out of 5 stars.
